Teaching: How to Steam Rice

I have a rice cooker. I love my rice cooker because I was never good at steaming rice on the stove, even after culinary school. It was better after school, but never great. So I love my rice cooker.

My hub is traditional and even though we have the cooker, he prefers to steam rice on the stove. (By the way, he's the primary cook in our house during the week because he is the stay at home parent.) His rice tends to stickiness, but we like it that way. But if you don't want sticky rice, then this video tutorial from Gordon Ramsay is for you.

He adds some spices (cardamon and anise) because he's prepping that rice for tikka masala, as he mentions. Just add the salt for versatile rice that will go with any dish. Also, he works in metric measurements - the key is the 1 part rice to 1.5 parts water. I've also used chicken stock instead of water for added flavor.
